Your KitchenAid mixer is a hard-working machine and over time the grease that keeps its gears safe from damage can get old and begin to separate.
When this oil begins to separate you may notice the following as a result of your KitchenAid mixer leaking oil:
Another reason your mixer may be leaking oil is due to a damaged gasket.
However, regardless of which issue is causing this problem the easiest way to fix this issue is to take the mixer apart and regrease it.
NOTE: While you have the mixer opened up you can also check the gasket to make sure there is no damage there.
Also once your KitchenAid Stand Mixer starts leaking oil it will not stop leaking oil until you replace the grease and possibly the gasket.
To minimize the chance of having your KitchenAid mixer leak oil you can follow these steps:
1.) Periodically turn the mixer on and let it run.
This can be done with or without something to mix, so if you are frequently using your mixer then you do not need to worry about this step.
2.) If the mixer is already leaking oil. Turn the mixer up to speed 10 and let it run 2 minutes before use. Wipe away any oil that came out after the 2 minutes.
This is a good method to use if you find yourself in a pinch and cannot get to change out the grease on your mixer.
However, it is usually best to just replace the grease to ensure you do not cause any damage to the gears.
3.) Avoid overloading your mixer.
Letting your mixer to properly cool between mixes will help to prevent this from happening in the future.
4.) After long periods of not using your mixer replace the grease as a preemptive measure.
If the idea of getting oil into your food even if it is from food-grade grease does not sound appealing be sure to replace the grease if you have not used your machine in a long time.
This will ensure that you do not encounter any issues once you start to use it.
]]>Now you may have come across this guide because you noticed some weird grinding noises were coming from your mixer, you noticed oil was leaking from your mixer, or because you just want to keep on the standard maintenance for your mixer.
Regardless of the reason that you are here today replacing the grease on a KitchenAid stand mixer is a fairly simple task and should not take you more than thirty minutes.
Although you can definitely knock it out in fifteen minutes or less once you get the hang of it.
Anyways there are a few items you will want to make sure you have handy before attempting to replace your mixer's grease.
NOTE: If your mixer is still under the one to two-year full coverage warranty KitchenAid will usually fix this issue for you free if you go to their website and send it into one of their facilities. I highly suggest you do this if you still have the full coverage warranty as any self-repair on the KitchenAid Mixer could void the warranty if they deem that it is the cause of the issue and not something on the manufacturing side.
If your mixer is under two years of age and it is not acting right or is leaking oil I would highly suggest you go to KitchenAid's Stand Mixer warranty and give them a call.
If you are outside of the warranty and all is left is the limited they will consider this typical wear and tear and will not fix it for you.
These are the simplified steps to replace the grease in your KitchenAid Stand Mixer.
If you would like the more detailed instructions they are below this.
1.) Remove the rear cover of the mixer
This is held on by one Philips head screw located at the top of the cover. Once you have removed the screw simply pull the rear cover at.
Note: At this time you can place that rear cover on the table and begin to store your screws in it if you opted out of grabbing an additional container.
2.) Remove the metal strip that goes around the mixer head
This metal strip is held on by two Philips head screws located at the back where we just removed the rear cover from.
Once you have removed these screws you can then pull off the metal strip with your hands and set it aside for later.
3.) Remove the planetary ring
The planetary ring is held on through friction so all you will need to do is gently pry it off using your hands and the flat head screwdriver.
4.) Remove planetary cover
Now that we have the planetary ring off you will want to remove the planetary cover.
This cover is held in by a metal pin you will need a small screwdriver or punch to push the pinout. You can also use a nail and hammer if neither of the two is readily available. This is where the pliers can come in handy to pull out the pin once you have it partially pushed out.
Once the pin is out you can then use your flathead screwdriver again to gently remove the cover.
It is best if you use your hand once you have it started with the screwdriver.
Note: be careful when doing this as it is easy to break the planetary cover. It is best that you gently separate several points on the planetary cover with he screwdriver instead of trying to force it from one side.
5.) Remove the 5 screws hidden behind the planetary cover
Once that planetary cover is removed you will notice 5 flat head screws. You will need to remove these and set them aside.
6.) Remove the 4 screws at the bottom of the mixer head
One of these screws will have a washer on it remember its location as it will have to go back in the same spot.
7.) Pull the power cord out of its strain guard
Near the rear of the mixer, you will notice the power cord is locked into a divet.
Pull it out of that divet so that we can fully detach the upper half in the next section
8.) Separate the top and bottom half of the mixer by removing the top
After the screws have been removed you can now separate the mixer into two parts by gently pulling off the top half of the mixer.
The split between the two should be pretty obvious with that metal strip removed.
9.) Remove and check the gasket
You will want to gently remove the gasket that is around the base of the gears and make sure there are no tears in it.
Otherwise, if it does appear damaged you will want to replace it as well to avoid any further complications.
After deciding what needs to be done with the gasket just set it to the side.
10.) Remove three more screws that should be on the top part of the bottom portion of the mixer
We need to remove these so that we can then separate out the gears and properly remove all of the grease.
NOTE: You can get away without doing this step however it may be hard to get all of the grease out.
11.) Remove the old grease using the putty knife and maybe some towels
You will need to remove as much of the old grease as you can before putting in the new grease.
This includes the upper and lower portions of the mixer as you will notice grease is typically all over the insides your mixer.
12.) Check the gear teeth to make sure none are broken
You will want to do this step especially if you have been hearing a grinding noise coming from your mixer.
13.) Put gasket and any removed gears back on
You will want to put the gasket back on along with any gears you removed.
This includes the one that we took off to clean that has the three screws holding it in.
NOTE: Before putting the gear with the three screws holding it in you will want to grease the lower portion of its gears.
14.) Apply new grease to both upper and lower gears
Be sure that you have a food-grade grease that you are using that matches the specs of the KitchenAid Mixer both for your safety and the mixer's safety.
You will want to ensure you apply grease onto all parts of the gears including the ones in the upper half that we removed and the lower half.
Be sure to grease the upper front portion if you use the attachments for your KitchenAid Mixer heavily as this is the gear that makes those work.
15.) Combine the bottom and top portion of the mixer head.
16.) Put the four screws you took out in step 6 back into their appropriate places.
17.) Screw back in the 5 screws you took out from the planetary head
18.) Reattach the planetary cover
You will need to put the pin back in place
Push a small screwdriver through the hole while rotating to make it easier to line up.
You may need a hander or you can you the handle of your screwdriver to pop the pin back into place.
19.) Put the planetary ring back on
This should just slide back onto where we took it off from if you just push it with your hands.
20.) Reattach metal strip
Do not forget this was attached with two screws on the rear section of the mixer.
21.) Strain relief for the cord back on
This should just slide back into the divet towards the back.
22.) Put rear cover back on
Finally, slide the rear cover back on and screw in the one screw on top to lock it in place.
Many of you may be wondering how often you will need to be doing this. However, the answer to this is very complicated as it is dependent on a multitude of factors.
Some KitchenAid Mixers can go a lifetime without ever needed grease while others can end up needing it fairly often. It really just depends on how often you use your mixer and what conditions you put it through.
In short, though the most likely time that you will want to grease your KitchenAid Mixer is whenever you notice something off about it.
One of the most common scenarios is when a KitchenAid Mixer is leaking oil as the only way to stop it is to replace the grease. Otherwise, you can follow some of the temporary fix steps that will at least keep it from leaking for a little while. Which is to basically run your mixer on a medium to high speed before use to dislodge the oil and clean it after doing so.
Any funny noises or just your mixing seeming to not work correctly is also a good time to do a regrease as it allows you to take a look at the gears and gasket inside of your mixer. The teeth on the gears are prone to damage but are relatively cheap and easy to replace compared to buying an entirely new mixer.
Finally, the other major scenario where regreasing your KitchenAid Mixer is usually a good idea is whenever your mixer has not been used in a long time as the grease could separate into liquid and solid forms and become less effective.
]]>On all KitchenAid products model and serial numbers are usually stored on a silver label for major appliances and for the portable ones they store this information on a white label.
So where do you find this label on your KitchenAid Mixer?
Well, all you need to do is follow these simple steps.
If you want to get the model and serial number off of your KitchenAid Mixer just follow theses simple steps:
]]>
Or maybe you have just gifted a KitchenAid mixer and are not sure what you should do with it.
Well, I can tell that if you just got one or are planning on getting one you will absolutely love using it.
Furthermore, if you aren't sure on how to change out any of the attachments be sure to check out my instructional article on How To Change The Attachments On A KitchenAid Mixer
Well, every KitchenAid mixer that you buy should come with three basic attachments to get you started. However, there are certainly many more KitchenAid Mixer Attachments that you can go out and purchase to extend the capabilities of your mixer
The three attachments that come with a KitchenAid Stand Mixer are:
The Flat Edge Beater is the attachment you will find yourself using the most with your mixer. It is by far the most versatile of the group and basically an all-purpose tool.
When it comes to baking or mixing needs you will want to use this tool. It can be effectively used with normal to heavy mixtures such as cakes, brownies, cookies and more.
Furthermore, if your recipe specifies a need for you to mix, beat, mash, or cream then this mixer is your friend.
As for the speed capabilities of this attachment it can be used on all of the speed settings of your mixer as long as it is the right speed for whatever batter you would like to mix.
The Wire Whip attachment is great for mixing ingredients that require air to be added to during the mixing process.
Common ingredients that the wire whip is used for is the whipping of eggs and creams. If the recipe requires some whipping you will likely want to make sure this attachment is nearby.
The ingredients that are intended to be whipped with the wire whip are usually lighter and fluffier ingredients.
While the heavier more dense ingredients such as those used in making icings, frostings, or buttercream can be made by using the beater.
When using this attachment you will usually be running the higher speed levels on it such as levels 8 and 9.
The Dough Hook is by far one of my favorite attachments that comes with the KitchenAid Stand Mixer as it helps to make life easy.
The Dough Hook is used for making heavy doughs such as bread.
The part that I like so much about it is that it allows you to skip the kneading process when making a yeasted dough.
This ultimately saves you time as the dough hook is capable of producing the exact same results you would get out of hand kneading the dough in a fraction of the time.
To use this attachment you will want to set the mixer to its lower speed levels around or at a 2 depending on the type of dough.
Again there are countless attachments for the KitchenAid Stand Mixer. All of which I highly suggest you taking a look at if you intend on making the best use of your KitchenAid mixer.
As for the three standard attachments you received with your mixer you will find that they are quite useful and a good starting point.
]]>However, to create the results that they do it requires some strong moving parts that end up running at very hot and very fast speeds.
Over time the grease that was originally put in the mixer becomes old, gets dirty, and overall becomes less effective at minimizing friction for the internal components.
When this happens the components can become impacted with each other and possibly dislodge an internal component or worse yet damage the motor itself.
This is why many KitchenAid enthusiasts suggest replacing your mixer grease at least once a year.
Giving you the opportunity to also fully clean the gears and add some fresh grease into the internal parts.
It is a good maintenance habit along with deep cleaning to get into if you want to always get the best performance from your mixer and keep it running forever.
Now to answer the question of what kind of grease should you be using in your KitchenAid stand mixer.
The KitchenAid Mixer uses an NSF H-1 Registered Food-Grade Grease. The reason this is used is that it will provide you with the safest and most effective grease possible.
This does not mean you can not use other types of grease you could throw things like vaseline in there and it will work for a little while...
However, a little while is not what you are likely looking to take care of your mixer and keep it running smoothly, and to do that you need the right grease for it.
Food-Grade Grease is a specific category of greases that have been designed specifically for use in situations where food contact is possible or likely to occur.
These types of greases are rated in accordance with the NSF ratings that I referred to early in this article. There are three main ratings that are used by the NSF standards to describe the type of grease.
The NSF ratings are as follows:
NSF H-1 Rated (Food-Grade Grease):
A product that is rated NSF H-1 is usually intended for the internal components of food processing equipment where there is a possibility of incidental food contact such as a KitchenAid Mixer.
These compounds can serve a multitude of purposes such as providing anti-rust protection, acting as a release agent on gaskets or seals of tank closures, and as a lubricant for machine parts and equipment where they operate in conditions where the lubricant could potentially expose itself to food.
To qualify for this rating the grease must cause no harm when consumed or affect the food's taste or odor when there are small amounts of contamination.
NSF H-2 Rated:
These types of lubricants are intended for use on equipment that is not being used in or around food.
There is no special list for this type of rating as it makes up a bulk of greases that are not considered food-grade.
NSF H-3 Rated (Direct Food Contact Lubricants):
Finally, you have the H-3 rating which is your grease and lubricants that are used to on loaf pans, grills, etc to keep foods from adhering to a hard surface.
These types of lubricants you are probably pretty familiar with.
If it is not obvious already as to why you need to be using a good food-grade grease for you KitchenAid Stand Mixer I will run you through a quick scenario that you may have seen yourself.
Remember how I said that there were a lot of moving parts in your mixer?
Well, these moving parts mainly the worm gear and motor are stored in the planetary head portion of the mixer. Which just so happens to be right above where you place your bowl.
Now you may be wondering why the location of these parts happens to be of any importance.
It is because as the grease gets older and is not used as often the solid portions and the liquid portions will separate. When this happens you may notice a liquid leaking out of your KitchenAid Mixer which by the way means you need to replace the grease ASAP.
And that liquid can easily drip into your food and contaminate it. Which if you choose to be an NSF H-2 rated grease in your mixer you would likely become sick if you were to consume the contaminated food.
While on the other hand using a food-grade grease would help you to avoid such an unfortunate scenario.
If you have decided that you want to replace the grease in your KitchenAid Mixer it is certainly worth making sure you buy the right kind.
Fortunately, food-grade grease is not hard to come by and is not super pricey the amount you need for your KitchenAid mixer can usually be bought for around $10.
The only caveat when buying the food-grade grease is making sure it is intended for use in a KitchenAid mixer as not all food-grade greases are able to handle the higher operating temperatures that they run at.
Furthermore, greases come in many different types of consistencies which will also play a role in how effectively your machine runs.
Putting a grease that is too thick into your mixer would cause significant strain on the motor. While, on the other hand, a grease that is not thick enough will easily fling off of the gears and not protect your mixer at all.
Now to save you the trouble on trying to figure out which grease to buy I would simply suggest using this Food Grade KitchenAid Mixer Grease.
In conclusion, there are many types of greases available for purchases on the open market today.
Thanks to eCommerce and the growing amount of internet sellers I am not sure what type of grease you can not get your hands on today.
However, your KitchenAid Mixer is a special machine and requires a grease that will meet or exceed its expectations to keep it running optimally.
A grease that meets these needs would be able to, first of all, handle the high operating temperatures of the KitchenAid Mixer.
Secondly, be able to stay attached to the gears inside of the machine by being the right consistency.
Finally, the grease should be an NSF H-1 rated food-grade grease to ensure that you are using grease that is absolutely safe for these operating circumstances.
To purchase a grease that meets these needs you can follow the link below:

]]>How do you know when its time to Descale your coffee machine? That depends if you have a nice coffee machine or something like a Keurig it will have an alarming red light or an error code. Or the coffee can taste-off, either way, its time to descale!
Why do we need to do this? We have to descale our coffee makers because the water we put in them is "hard" water. Meaning that it has minerals in it, that attach to the inside of the coffee maker where water is heated. This causes a build-up that can make the coffee maker not to work at all and can also distort the taste of your delicious brew. How to descale.
There are two main ways to descale your coffee machine.
Distilled White Vinegar
This is a simple yet effective way to descale. I recommend this for route maintenance, as in my experience it won't tackle the big build-up. Simply fill up half capacity with distilled white vinegar, and brew a cup of coffee. Repeat this process several times, there is no need to change out the vinegar each time, as its strength will remain the same. When done be sure to brew about 3 pots of coffee with fresh water each time so that your next batch of coffee doesn't taste like vinegar! I must say, the other way to descale your coffee pot is more common.
Descaling Solution
Many companies make their own descaling solutions. And they all work pretty much the same, they are safe for your machine and work very well. For these though, the process will vary with each product so read the instructions carefully. Be sure to rinse the machine out by brewing several pots of coffee with new water each time.
In conclusion in this article, we talked about some signs of when its time to descale your coffee machine. We also discussed two ways for you to do it at home. One way is the distilled white vinegar which is a great way to get it done in a pinch! And we talked about a dedicated descaling solution, which is a stronger more effective way to descale your coffee machine. Let me know how you keep your coffee tasting great!
]]>
However, every once and a while you should consider doing some much-needed maintenance on them. To help keep them running as best as possible and in this case, also keep them looking good and sanitary.
As a part of good maintenance, an occasional deep clean is necessary.
I personally do this whenever I know I will not be using my mixer for a while.
By doing this I ensure that I do not come back a month later to find some food stuck in some corner that is all moldy and gross now.
Hopefully, this article will help you avoid the same circumstances and keep your mixer looking shinier and cleaner than ever before!
Be sure to get some safe stainless steel cleaner to polish the outside of your bowl, so that way when your machine is sitting there it doesn't have any fingerprints or water spots on it.
]]>The KitchenAid brand has created an abundance of KitchenAid mixer attachments and accessories that can make the machine useful for just about anything.
However, with all of these attachments and accessories for your mixer, you may be wondering how on earth you change them out.
Furthermore, how can you change these attachments without damage or causing any harm to your mixer?
Well, you're in the right place.
That's just the question ill be answering today.
So how do we change attachments on a KitchenAid mixer?
Fortunately, the KitchenAid mixer and all of its attachments were made to easily be both attached and detached from the mixer in a matter of minutes.
All you need to do is follow these six simple steps and you will be on your way:
1.) Unplug Mixer From Any Powersource:
This should be done not only as a safety precaution for you but also for your mixer.
2.) Raise Mixer's Head Fully Up:
To do this you simply just grab onto your mixer's head and apply an upward force until it will no longer move upward.
3.) Wipe Down The Mixer's Shaft:
This is the first real step that takes some effort. Leftover residue or food on the shaft can cause the attachment to get "glued on with food. So to prevent this you will want to wipe it down with a warm wet cloth.
If there is some stubborn food that will not remove you can take a more abrasive approach however I would suggest using something that isn't too rough as you would not want to damage the shaft.
4.) Attach Your Desired Attachment:
For this step, you will first need to grab your desired attachment. Once that is completed you will want to locate the notch on the attachment.
Then line this notch up with the protruding rod on the side of the shaft. From there you will want to push the attachment into it and twist, it will then lock-in.
Note: There is only one way the attachment will rotate to lock in so if it is not rotating in one direction simply try the other way.
5.) Lower The Mixer Head:
For this step simply put the mixer head back into its desired lowered location by again grabbing the head and applying force to maneuver it into a proper spot.
6.) Plugin The Mixer
Finally, do not forget to plug your mixer back in. Otherwise, you may run into some additional complications when operating the mixer.
Now that you have completed all the steps and reattached your KitchenAid Mixer attachment you are all ready to go!
However, if you think you are ready to add a custom paint job to your KitchenAid Mixer you should check out my article on How To Custom Paint Your KitchenAid Mixer while you are here.
We talked about how to change attachments on a KitchenAid mixer.
This can be done in 6 simple steps within a matter of minutes.
If you are super fast probably in under a minute.
To summarize the steps again:
Whether you’re in love with cooking or simply trying to clean up your diet if you own a KitchenAid mixer there are some attachments out there that really can make your cooking life easier.
This is the part where you ask, why are the attachments even needed? Because they can make your life easier and bring some spice into your life.
Whether you’re cooking with the kids or creating your own concoction some of these KitchenAid attachments can be very beneficial to you!
The next attachment we got is the ice-cream maker.
Making ice cream could not get much easier than with the KitchenAid ice cream maker attachment.
You just have to freeze the ice cream bowl for well 15 hours (which is the standard time for ice cream bowls), pop it in the plastic dasher.
After that, attach a tiny tool with the stand mixer where we usually screw-on blade.
The good thing is that the bowl has very generous capacity i.e. there is enough space for you to make 2 quarts of the ice-cream at one time.
Though it will take some extra space in the freezer, the process is super-fast. You don’t have to wait for long as the process will take about 20 minutes and you will have your ice-cream ready.
Whether is for you or the kids, you’ll love making your own sweet treats in the Kitchen. It comes with a double-walled mixing bowl to help freeze and keep your ice-cream frozen.
Not to mention this attachment is super space-efficient compared to other ice cream makers and is an easy attachment to put on your KitchenAid Mixer.
The next attachment I have for you will help you eliminate redundancies in your kitchen, and to possibly clear up that kitchen cabinet that you have stuffed with all your unused kitchen appliances.
The KitchenAid Food Processor Attachment is a great tool. With it, you can adjust how thick you want your sliced fruit, veggies, and cheese.
The large top opening makes it easy to get the larger sizes of fruits and veggies to be processed.
Everyone loves pasta, if you haven’t ever made your own pasta, you should!
With KitchenAid Pasta Attachment you’re ready to roll, and cut Fettuccine or spaghetti pasta noodles.
Although in my opinion, the attachment is on the expensive side, if pasta is your thing, this attachment will get you in the noodle zone all the faster!
Honestly, I never even thought his next one to be possible. But I've found it in my searches so I'm adding it here!
The Grinding and Straining Attachment!
What is this?
Well, next time you’re at the store get all your favorite frozen or fresh berries and fruits you might want and make yourself a juice cocktail.
This attachment strains and grinds so it does all the hard work for you!
Not only does this attachment come with 4 awesome blades for anything from sweet potatoes to zucchini to apples, beets, and pears. It really does it all.
All of it fits nicely into a little storage case so it doesn’t take up a ton of room in the kitchen
I must say if you runny a vegetable-heavy diet you can really benefit from having a tool like this laying around.
The very first thing that we examined for the KitchenAid mixer accessories was Pasta Roller and Cutter and the experience was fantastic.
We just loved this machine. It gives you that feeling like “yeah, I can make anything now”. It's super easy to use and because it's attached to the KitchenAid, you got both the hands-free to catch and feed the pasta.
We used the attachment that comes in a set of 3 and 5. It depends on you which set will be suitable for you and how much you will want to make capellini or lasagnette.
These are terms used for the types of noodles like very thin or wider noodles. Along with this, you can also go with simple pasta sheets, fettuccine, and spaghetti.
So, whichever the set you choose, they all are perfectly fit and fine.
The KitchenAid has another attachment for the pasta press. This attachment has all of the other pasta cutting tools which are super cool for your cutting.
It has different discs which are also changeable, and they are used for making rigatoni, bucatini, spaghetti, large-small macaroni, and fusilli.
This attachment is perfect in making complex shapes for the pasta enthusiast and the experience simply loved. We decided to go with a rigatoni shape.
We started with a bunch of egg dough which is the mixture of all-purpose flour and some fresh-ground flour. To use this attachment, we made balls of this dough and feed them through a tube.
There, it meets the auger which further drives the balls through different shaping discs. The whole process is super easy and very interesting.
After that, you cut the pasta with the little wire attached after it’s extruded. The disadvantage we see was the cleaning of discs. They are difficult to clean as compared to the press.
Let me tell you first that if you’re a pure vegetarian, there is no need for a food grinder at your home.
Because we all know that food grinder is for meat. Yet there is a good place for the food grinder in your KitchenAid mixer stand.
The best part of the grinder is that its super easy to use, fast, consistent, easy to clean, easy to assemble, and for sure best for grinding the meat at home.
You can also use this for grinding seasons like fresh herbs and garlic into the mixture of pieces of chicken. It has two sausage-filling tools (one for beef and another for chicken).
This attachment is of the next level.
You will have great fun using this tool. Well, I don’t personally like the zoodles or that sweet pot-oodles as a replacement for pasta but if there are noodles around your vegetables, I can simply love this also.
You will love watching the piece of zucchini going spiral like a firecracker. This attachment kit has 7 clean blades along with extra-fine, better and medium spiralizers.
The thin slicer is for small core veg, medium for medium core and larger for larger core veg respectively. You can also attach an extra blade with the other blades.
This attachment can be used to make homemade curly fries, to give bounciness to the salad and many more interesting things you can do at your home. So, this attachment will make your kitchen heaven for you.
We highly recommend this attachment.
This attachment is best for you to easily add the fresh sliced and shredded parts to your favorite entrees, salads, sides and more.
Just you have to attach the KitchenAid free prep slicer attachment to the power hub of the KitchenAid mixer stand and leave the rest part on the machine.
It will quickly power through your ingredients into your best choice. So, definitely it has a space in your KitchenAid mixer attachment stand.
This was the attachment we all were very excited to try and the results we got were more than our expected fun. Because I simply love fancy juice and there is some kind of interesting feeling while making that at home.
This juicer attachment which can also be used to make apple or tomato sauce comes in some bog box. When you unpack the box, you will get bits and pieces in the box as we got after unpacking.
These pieces were basically a basket for your favorite paste level, a plunger system for sending your fruits down to the feed tube, a combo of the blade which will cut the fruits and grinds them according to your chosen basket and at last jugs for collecting the juice.
As you have to take the pieces out of the box, it seems difficult and scary to assemble but it can be assembled easily and efficiently. But you have to be careful while handling the blades assembling them to make juice.
Once you assembled that, it easy to wash out the blades and the jugs can be fitted again with ease.
There is also a quick-start manual for you that shows how to take out that pulp jet before juicing. As you have to be cautious while handling this, that’s why we simply suggest you go with the manual so that you can take out and take in the parts accordingly and this will increase the life of juicer.
We got a piece of advice in the manual that container should be pushed in open for the low paste juices. This will help you to get more perfect juice.
Well, the product is super friendly and helpful, but we are not that much convinced because of the size as it has various pieces which will take much greater space.
Also, it was not that much powerful as compared to the specific juicer. If you really want perfect juice, we suggest you take one of them also.
This attachment is like a waste of space in the KitchenAid mixer stand because this attachment will give you long sheets of vegetables and I don’t think anyone wants that type of vegetable long sheets.
Their official website suggests that these sheets can be used as a replacement for wraps, pasta or even some sort of flatbread.
By the way, this attachment was easy to handle and easy to clean. It doesn’t have that many pieces so it can be easily assembled. Well, it’s not that much waste of a product.
You can use this tool to make rice-paper wraps, lasagna noodles, crusts or something like that and it can be helpful for you.
Grind mill as explains by the name is an attachment to grind some grains. We used this attachment to grind some pieces of grains for using them in the pasta maker attachment.
We were very happy after getting the results. This mill is very smooth and shiny. It has only one part to handle which is like a hopper screwed to burr with a knob.
This is used to set the limit for how much fine your flour should be. It also has a cleaning brush with it.
As we were gonna use this grind flour to make pasta, we started this mill in the very finest settings. Then poured the paste into that hopper and let it split. It can take up to 10 minutes to grind a half cup of paste.
You can also turn off the machine to give it some rest and save it from overheating. This will make your flour beautiful, incredible and uniform.
Everything is fine with this grain mill except the time it can take at different speeds. Because, the less fine you want the flour, the more time it will take. Also, the sound of this mill isn’t that much loud like the other grinders and juicers but still, it can disturb your loving cat.
The best tools for the kitchen can be tough to find. So I compiled a list of the best KitchenAid mixer accessories. I narrowed it down to my top 5.
These are:
Of course, there are other attachments out there but in my opinion, these are the most common, and the most relevant on the market today.

If you haven’t actually got your mixer yet, I’ve written another article on my Top 5 KitchenAid mixers that are available today so be sure to check that out.
If you have an older KitchenAid stand mixer or any stand mixer for that matter, I have an article telling you step by step how to paint it whatever color you want. That way it fits your decor perfectly. How to Custom Paint your KitchenAid Stand Mixer.
]]>Although the machine was older it still ran like a champ.
The only issue was there was no possible way to get the color it was to match anything close to my décor in my kitchen.
But, it had me wondering. How hard would it be for me to paint a KitchenAid mixer?
With a question to answer, I decided to scour the internet to see if it had been done and learn about it so I could indeed do it myself.
So if you’re looking to paint your KitchenAid Stand Mixer this is the article for you.
Whether you’re looking to custom paint your KitchenAid mixer or repair some dings you’ve attained over the years you can benefit from my findings!
What’s needed
The first step might sound tough and it can be. But to ease you’re through this process I found a video that shows you how to do this step piece by piece. That way you can see exactly what you’re doing and how to do it.
It is imperative that you label pieces as you take them off this can be done by using bowls to separate which screw goes were or even sticking some tape to the parts and writing what it is and where it goes can be great tools in insuring you get this thing back together better than when you found it!
You’re going to tape your KitchenAid mixer next.
This is a creative process.
Because you have to find a creative way to get everything covered with the tape, so relax and be creative!
Essentially you’re going to tape every part of your mixer that you don’t want the color to change or internal parts.
You do not want to paint your internal parts. So simply use some painters tape to cover them.
Some parts I would keep the same are like the chrome or silver pieces of the machine that don’t remove.
But ultimately if you want them to be painted, paint them. If you don’t, cover them.
Now that you’ve got your disassembled mixer, that has been taped. You’re going to sand the heck out of it!
Why are we sanding our KitchenAid mixers?
That’s a great question!
Glad you asked.
We are going to use our 2000 grit sandpaper, now this sandpaper won’t seem rough to you if you’ve ever used sandpaper before. But what we are doing is making small abrasions on the surface of the metal and the other coat of paint that’s on the machine.
In doing this we are giving our new paint plenty of places to attach to.
Because we did this step we will get a great layer of paint on our machine that is way less likely to chip and fall off. So defiantly don’t skip this step!
Now the part you’ve been waiting for, paint! Defiantly go to your local hardware store to check out the massive selection of paints and colors they have there. For a task like this, I would definably use spray paint.
When painting is sure to step outside or use some cardboard to cover this around your project that you would want to match the color of your newly painted mixer.
Furthermore, be sure to use some distance between your spray paint and the surface of your mixer. If you get to close it can cause the paint to get a runny look and detract from the appearance you’re going for. If this happens you can wipe it down with a damp rag, and sand the area again if need be.
Also, it’s important to be thinking about coats of paint. Now it varies brand to brand and which color you're trying to cover. But I recommend anywhere from 1-3 coats depending on your circumstances.
What do you mean re-sand? Why would we do extra work? This step could be skipped if you are strapped for time. But I wouldn’t skip it. You want to be proud of your custom painted KitchenAid mixer right?
So put the time in and lightly sand it again with the 4000 grit sandpaper. This sandpaper won’t feel like sandpaper to the touch. But what you’re doing here is just taking off the top layer of film on the newly painted surface. Doing this will get rid of the “sticky” feel the new paint has.
This step like the one above can be skipped. But if you did the step above you have to do this one! You want to lightly apply a thin layer of paint again to all the painted surfaces of the machine once more.
Doing this really will help you get a really even paint job. Hey, at this point you’re almost ready to repaint your car right? But we will save that for another time.
Wait overnight before doing this step. We want the paint to be good and dry,
Now we have to make the choice, which clear coat are we going to use.
Personally, I really want my machine to shine! So I’m going to go with a nice gloss coat.
Make sure everything is still covered with tape. We don’t want this getting on any of the parts we didn’t want to get our paint on.
Once you’ve decided on which clear coat you want to apply it using the same rules as the spray paint. Keep a little bit of distance and give her a good coat.
Allow 5-10 minutes between coats that way it has plenty of time to dry. And use a minimum of 3 coats. You could do up to 5.
This is important to do because this is your layer of protection. You want to protect your machine from dings and scratches that come with normal wear and tear. Plus you’ve spent time and money on this project and you want it to be the best it can be right?
This part should be easy since you hopefully took my advice and did a terrific job of separating and labeling parts.
Be sure to remove all your painter's tape, really there isn’t a right or wrong way to do this. But I always try and remove it slowly and steadily. Not sure if there is any real benefit to doing it this way but that how I was taught and that how I do it.
Lastly, all you’re really doing here is re-assembling the machine being very careful not to scratch your new paint job.
In this article, we learned how to paint a KitchenAid mixer. Topics covered are.
Hopefully, you’ve got your dream color mixer. And if care was put into the project it’s looking fantastic.
Ready to turn heads and mix breads!
Hopefully, this project has been a fun one or reading this has inspired you to take the plunge and get out there and do it!
All I can say is that is a great project and a unique one.
What was the hardest part for you? What was the easiest?
Maybe after reading this, you found out that you don't want to tackle the task of painting your old mixer and would just rather buy yourself a new one. I have linked here a great article that talks about the top 5 KitchenAid mixers on the market today so check it out!
Lastly, I wanted to add one more resource for everyone! I found a video of someone doing this online that I will link here. Some of us love to read about projects some of us want to see someone else do it and there result before we attempt it and I understand that.
Furthermore, in watching that video you can see how amazing a job you yourself can do on a project like this. Not to even mention that you can save so much money rather than buying a whole new mixer!
]]>This then led me to ask myself which KitchenAid mixer is best for me?
Naturally, I began compiling a list of the different mixers that are currently offered.
Looking into all the different features a functionality associated with each model.
Furthermore, I knew that I would want all the bells and whistles I could find for my KitchenAid mixer, but this would certainly spike up the price.
That is why I compared not only price and features but the value between each one to help myself make an informed decision and hopefully you as well.
Well to answer this question I put all of my hard work into compiling a list of the top 5 KitchenAid Mixer that I came across.
CONS:
At $199 this mixer is probably the most affordable KitchenAid Stand Mixer on the market today.
This option allows you to get into the stand mixer world without having to put holes in your pockets!
Although this option is cheaper than some of the other options.
It does have its drawbacks!
First off, it's only offered in the metallic silver shown above. For some, this could be a deal-breaker!
Also, its smaller 4.5 Qt bowl means for bigger events you might have to do multiple batches.
But don't get me wrong it still can do a whopping 3 loaves of bread or 6 pounds of mashed potatoes!
For me that's excessive but to someone who likes to have big dinner parties, it is minuscule.
PROS:
CONS:
Coming in at $350 this is one of the more expensive options on this list.
But, this cobalt blue more than makes up for it!
Not to mention its awesome features!
With a 6 Qt mixing bowl, this is one of the biggest bowls on the list.
It can handle whatever is being thrown at it and make more cookies. By more cookies, I mean in one batch it can make 13 DOZEN!
The 67 point mixing is a unique feature, it allows more consistent mixing than the regular 59.
For big cookers, and party hosts alike this is a must-have!
PROS:
CONS:
This is the KitchenAid Artisan Design series.
Now, these are expensive at around $400.
But they do have a very unique feature, as you've probably discovered a Glass Bowl!
This is a great option if you want to be able to see your creation from the sides.
I must say being able to see your cookies come together is apart of the magic of cooking, and honestly one of my favorite parts.
Although I must say the unique hues found on the artisan design models will tie any kitchen decor together with a stunning piece of kitchen equipment.
Compared to the others listed here, the real seller here is the Unique Colors and the Glass Bowl.
If that's your thing this is your mixer!
PROS:
CONS:
This here is a monster mixer.
But what do you expect for a commercial mixer?
As a commercial mixer, it is the most expensive on this list coming in at $699.
What can I say about this mixer?
Other than its huge and has a LOT of power .44 horsepower.
That's right horsepower!
In my opinion, this is only needed for the biggest of jobs.
I don't really see where this is a practical option unless your cooking huge quantities.
But if that's you, hey here's your mixer!
PROS:
CONS:
In this article, we tackled a tough question. Which KitchenAid mixer is Best for me?
I've listed out the pros and cons of the Top 5 Models KitchenAid Mixers To Buy.
In my opinion comparing price, quantity, and style its definitely the KitchenAid KSM150PSER.
With the price of $299 and being able in my opinion to handle any task thrown at it, its the hands-down winner.
Why does it win in my opinion?
What about you? Which option did you choose, and why did you choose it?
